Using traditional manufacturing methods to manufacture this blade would require procurement of a large cylindrical billet, which would then be machined down to the final shape. This, of course, would result in a huge amount of both material and time waste. Using WAAM, the rough profile can be built up and then the final dimensions can be achieved through traditional machining techniques.
